The president of the Institute of the Middle East, Evgeny Satanovsky, believes that it doesn't matter whether the Geneva conference on Syria will be held or not.
According to him, the future of talks between the parties involved in the Syrian conflict remains uncertain. Neither side is ready for compromise. President Assad has no desire to resign, as his forces are winning at the moment and the opposition and Western powers will have nothing to talk about if al-Assad remains in office.
This means that, even if the conference is held, it probably won't contribute much to the resolution of the ongoing conflict.
