Armenia officially prolongs agreement with Russia concerning military bases

The Secretary of the Armenian Council of National Security, Artur Bagdasaryan, officially confirmed the intention of Yerevan and Moscow to sign a protocol on prolonging the dates of the presence of the 102nd Russian military base on Armenian territory, News Armenia reports, citing the Public Television of Armenia (PTA).


The 102nd base was established in 1995 near Giumri. In December 2005  it was declared the base would expand, after the signing of bilateral agreements between Russia and Armenia. Armenia provided land and property for the base. The base is part of the North Caucasian military district of Russia.
