Alexander Iskandaryan, director of the Caucasus Institute, said that Russia and Armenia formed security system based on common interest. Armenia has no other country to replace Russia in the light of Turkey’s being member of the NATO, unsettled Nagorno-Karabakh and lack of relations with Azerbaijan.
Armenia is a member of the CSTO and allows Russia to use its territory for a military base. Azerbaijan, Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia cannot replace Russia.
Armenia cooperates with Europe to develop technologies, improve economic ties. Germany is a partner of Armenia. Armenia cooperates with Georgia and Iran in the field of communications.
