The United Ossetia Party had the second congress in Tskhinvali on July 2, the first expected congress of 15 South Ossetian parties. Alexey Vlasov, Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, noted that the parties with real chances of victory at the parliamentary polls plan to organize own congresses to pass a program and strategy for their campaigns in autumn 2013 – early 2014.
Vlasov said that they had no consensus on foreign political programs. The main issue of home policy is problems of social development. The republic is still dependent on support of Moscow.
The expert reminded that South Ossetia needed to adapt to new financial documents and adjust its political management according to the requirements of Moscow.
Commenting on Anatoly Bilalov’s call for reunification of the North and South Ossetia at the congress, Vlasov noted that it was still pressing issue, because the Ossetian society had no common opinion about the initiative. Such project is hard to realize, because part of South Ossetia has own geopolitical issues that would rise as soon as the unification process starts.
