Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov met US Secretary for Energy Ernest Moniz, Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, US congressmen, OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza in Washington, Interfax reports.
Idrisov urged US congressmen to lift the Jackson-Vanik amendment for Kazakhstan. The amendment was passed in 1974, limiting trade and loan-granting as a response to infringement of the right for migration in the USSR.
