Mosgorizbirkom, the Moscow City Electoral Commission, has reported today that the filing of documents for the registration of candidates for the elections of Moscow mayor has ended, and of 40 people who expressed their wish to become the head of the city, only 13 filed the documents, of which only eight had the required number of signatures of municipal deputies, and only these eight will be considered by the Commission as valid candidates for the mayor of Moscow.
Among the eight candidates are the Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Ivan Melnikov, the chairman of the party "Fair Russia" Nikolay Levichev, the candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party, Mikhail Degtyarev, the chairman of the party "Yabloko" Sergei Mitrokhin, the candidate of RPR-Parnas Alexei Navalny, and Sergei Sobyanin who is participating as an independent candidate. Literally "at the last moment" the chair of the "Green Alliance", Gleb Fetisov, who presented the signatures of 65 municipal deputies, filed his application, and the candidate of "Volia" Svetlana Peunova could collect only eight signatures.
