Construction of a new airport near Baku and a new air hub south of Alyat within the framework of the Big Baku plan have been discussed in Azerbaijan, Trend cites Nowruz Eldarly, head of the group managing the project.
Alyat will become a logistical, commercial and petroleum center of Azerbaijan. An international trade port is under construction in the area. An oil and gas refinery will be built at Sangachal. Alyat may become a brother city of Baku.
There are plans to build the Khazar Islands at Alyat to boost tourism.
The Heydar Aliyev Airport of Azerbaijan is 100km away from the new airport planned for construction.
