64% of Russians believe that Moscow did all it could to prevent escalation of the conflict, 15% - that Moscow rose to the provocation of Georgia.
54% are confident that Russian forces should stay in South Ossetia, 26% said that Moscow should withdraw the forces, 20% failed to answer.
46% believe that South Ossetia should become an independent state, 30% - that it should become part of Russia, 5% - part of Georgia, 20% failed to give an answer.
