Nicaragua's Ortega to visit South Ossetia



Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega will visit South Ossetia on September 20 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the republic's declaration of independence, South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity said, RIA Novosti reports.

Kokoity said he had invited Ortega and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to the republic during his visits to Managua and Caracas in July.However, he said Chavez would visit at a later date.

Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela and the tiny Pacific island state of Nauru are the only countries to have recognised South Ossetia and nearby Abkhazia.
