Today, Acting Head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov sacked the government of the republic.
Such a decision, he explained, was taken because he was not satisfied with the work of the Cabinet. "The work of the government is inefficient. Orders of the head of the republic have not been executed, the work on priority investment projects has not been completed," Interfax quoted Ramazan Abdulatipov.
He noted, however, that some ministers will keep their portfolios.
The first deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Karibov has been appointed the acting head of the Cabinet. Other members of the government were asked to perform their duties until the formation of a new Cabinet.
The current Cabinet has worked for a little less than six months, the previous government resigned on January 30 this year with the departure of Magomedsalam Magomedov, and the formation of a new government began the following day, with Mukhtar Medzhidov appointed as the head of the Cabinet.
In an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza, expert of the Institute for the Caucasus, Tataristics and Turcology studies Ramazan Alpaut, said that he sees the reason for the resignation of the government in the volatility of the situation in Dagestan.
"I think that, first of all, Abdulatipov sees all these points, and this is the cornerstone. But at the same time, the behavior of Abdulatipov as the acting head of the republic is, to some extent, very funny. And I think this sacking may also be of the same shocking effect. He does things that are, by and large, meant to raise his real rating among the population. Actually, such big things, I think, traditionally appeal to the people in the Caucasus. And this is the essence of what is happening," Ramazan Alpaut said.
The need for support among the electorate, despite the fact that the head of Dagestan will be appointed by the Parliament, the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee explains, is due to the mentality of the population.
"To actually hold on to power in Dagestan, in any case, one has to be at least close to the official ratings, to have this level of legitimacy," the expert commented.
The Executive Director of the ethno-political research center "Continent", Mohamed Omarov Ph.D., believes that "the dismissal of the government" is not the appropriate term in this situation.
"According to my information, which came from the government of the Republic of Dagestan and Moscow, the government was not sacked, but it was voluntary withdrawal of the head of the government in connection with his vision of the situation. One could say that he disagreed with Abdulatipov's views on Dagestan. We had this information a few days ago. But when it happened, I was a little surprised by the way it was presented in the media," the expert told Vestnik Kavkaza.
