Putin orders strengthening of police in Dagestan

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin ordered Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev to work on strengthening police forces throughout the North Caucasus, ITAR-TASS reports.

"Police units should be strengthened in the North Caucasus, including Dagestan," he said, speaking on the day that terrorist attacks in the Dagestani town of Kizlyar killed 12 people and injured over 20.

"Look at what needs to be done and submit your proposals," Putin told Nurgaliyev.

Putin noted that the explosions in Kizlyar had killed, among other people, several policemen. He also said that the relatives of the dead should receive state help.
