Russian and Georgian patriarchs say Church wants to be part of conflict resolution

Russian Patriarch Kirill and Georgian Patriarch Iliya II say the Orthodox Church wants to be a part of the Russian-Georgian conflict resolution process, the head of the Russian Patriarch's press service, Deacon Alexander Volkov says.

The clergymen also underlined that the issue of the Abkhaz Church should be settled in accordance with canonical law. 

The Abkhaz Church is now de facto independent, even though it historicaly was a part of the Church of Georgia.
