Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived today in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev in order to take part in the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Christianization of Kievan Rus.
The event will also be attended by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich.
Kievan Rus was christianized in 988 under the rule of Prince Vladimir, who was baptised together with his warriors and the whole population of Kiev.
