Political analyst Vladimir Yevseyev said, commenting on the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Baku, that Russia had supplied Azerbaijan with a large portion of weapons during presidency of Dmitry Medvedev. Putin’s visit will improve bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and give way to new arms contracts.
Improvement of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran is undesirable for Russia, the expert believes. Russia wants the situation at its borders to normalize. The visit to Baku will be a mission of mediation, especially in the light of Hassan Rouhani’s becoming President of Iran.
