Ingush acting President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov is marking the 50th birthday. Dagestani acting President Ramazan Abdulatipov congratulated him. Alexey Vlasov, Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza emphasized that Yevkurov was a popular and charismatic politician and his victory would be well-deserved.
Yevkurov was born in Tarskoye (Prigorodny District of the North Ossetian ASSR) on July 30, 1963. He has been serving in the Armed Forces since 1982. He graduated at the Ryazan Airborne Command School in 1989, Frunze Military Academy in 1997, Military Academy of the General Staff in 2004. He became the Hero of Russia on April 30, 2000, for merit during service in Kosovo. He was promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff of the Volga-Ural Military District (Yekaterinburg).
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev authorized him to govern Ingushetia for five years on October 31, 2008.
