Russian President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the Russian government to provide compensation for the victims of fires in Dagestan who have lost their homes.
On Thursday he held a telephone conversation with the head of Dagestan, Magomed Salam Magomedov. The press-service of the president reported that some populated areas in mountain regions were damaged by fires.
Medvedev is expected to hold a council for the social-economic development of Dagestan next week, RIA Novosti reports.
