Georgian ex-minister of defense sentenced for humiliation of staff

The Tbilisi City Court has sentenced ex-Minister for Defenses Bacho Akhalaya to 3 years of prison for detention of businessman Zviad Abuseridze, excess of power and humiliation of staff, Interfax reports.

He is yet to be charged for the riot at the Tbilisi Prison in 2006 and tortures of 7 SWAT officers. Alexander Giorgadze, Zurab Shamatava, Merab Kikabidze, Manuchar Daraselia, Georgy Kintsurashvili are on trial as well. Daraselia and Kintsurashvili have not been caught yet.
