Russia marks Day of Airborne Forces

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated soldiers and veterans on the Day of the Airborne Forces. They made a solemn procession to the Lobnoye Mesto on Red Square to honour Prophet Ilia, patron saint of the Airborne Forces, RIA Novosti reports.

Commander of the Airborne Forces Vladimir Shamanov and cadets of the Ryazan Airborne Command School took part in the ceremony. Shamanov called Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov a legendary airborne trooper. Yevkurov’s press service congratulated all soldiers and veterans of the Airborne Forces.
