Hassan Rouhani has been sworn in as the new President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, world media inform.
The official ceremony started at 4 p.m. local time in the building of the Iranian Parliament in the country's capital city, Tehran.
Representatives of 50 countries of the world took part in the event.
Among them are the presidents of Armenia and Kazakhstan, Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Oktay Asadov, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Speaker of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin.
Naryshkin has already met with his Iranian counterpart Ali Laridjani. The Russian official has stressed that Russia is interested in the succesful development of bilateral relations.
Hassan Rouhani was endorsed by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Aytollah Ali Khamenei, on Saturday. On the same day former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad officially handed power over to Rouhani.
