Only Supreme National Security Council of Iran can decide to start negotiations with USA

The Supreme National Security Council of Iran (SNSC) is the authorized structure which makes decisions on holding any negotiations with the USA, according to the chairman of the committee for national security and policy of the Iranian parliament, Alayeddin Borujerdi, Iranian media report, citing Press TV.

Realization of the final decision of the SNSC must be approved by the leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The US had a wrong position in their relations with Iran both before and after the revolution of 1979, he said.

The parliament also noted that Iran plans to hold negotiations with the Vienna Group  in which the USA is a member. Borujeri's comments follow declarations by US President Barack Obama about a peaceful settlement of Iran's nuclear program.
