German Federal Minister of Justice Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger says she does not rule a possible boycott of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games over an anti-gay campaign recently launched in Russia, independent Russian media agencies report on Tuesday.
The German official stressed that athletes and politicians are free to boycott the games if they feel uncomfortable about visiting Russia, where legislation prohibiting the so-called "promotion of homosexuality" has been introduced recently.
Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger also underlined that such laws contradict the European Convention of Human Rights.
