On the verge of the fifth anniversary of the 2008 South Ossetia war, Vestnik Kavkaza interviewed the head of the Labour and Social Relations Academy, Yevgeny Kozhokin.
"We have opened a new page in our relations with Georgia after the parliamentary elections held in the country. I believe there is a good chance that bilateral relations will improve," he said.
According to the expert, the 2008 war strengthened Russia's position in the region.
"This five-day war has improved the position of Russia. We have showed that we have a will and that we are ready to protect our interests," he said.
"The first reaction was rather tense, but all things considered I should say that we have won," Kozhokin believes.
