Russian president to visit Baku on Tuesday

Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Baku on August 13, as stated by Assistant President Yuri Ushakov yesterday, confirming the words of Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday, RIA Novosti reports.

Putting will be escorted by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, Minister for Energy Alexander Novak, Minister for Emergency Vladimir Puchkov, Minister for Transportation Maksim Sokolov, Minister for Economic Development Alexey Ulyukayev, Director General of Rosoboronexport Anatoly Isaykin, head of the Russian delegation for Caspian talks Igor Bratchikov, Rosneft head Igor Sechin and LUKOIL head Vagit Alekperov.

Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev are expected to discuss preparations for the 3rd Baku Humanitarian Forum set for October 31 – November 1, international and regional problems, legal status of the Caspian Sea, Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. Ushakov said that the Qabala Radar will not be discussed.

They plan to sign the Complex Plan for Cooperation of Russian and Azerbaijani Ministries for Emergencies and agreements in the transportation and energy fields.

Ushakov reminded that Russia was one of the main trade partners of Azerbaijan. Their trade turnover increased by 11% to $3.4 billion in 2012 and by 50% in January-May 2013.
