Elham Aminzadeh has been appointed Vice-President for Legal Affairs, becoming the first woman to achieve such a high position in the political hierarchy of Iran. The decree was signed today by President Hassan Rouhani.
He explained this choice by saying that Elham Aminzadeh has "the necessary scientific knowledge, legal background and experience in the field of law and good moral character," Interfax quotes the president.
Prior to her appointment, Aminzadeh was a professor at the Faculty of Law at Tehran University, and previously used to be a member of the parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy.
