Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta met Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on Sunday and discussed bilateral cooperation, role of their cooperation for the EU and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) as the guarantee of Europe’s energy security.
Fikret Sadykhov, a professor of the Western University, said that the visit was more essential for Italy, than Azerbaijan, and was organized to boost the talks about the Trans-Adriatic project.
Sadykhov noted that the visit confirmed mutual understanding of many key issues and problems of bilateral relations. The Azerbaijani and Italian ties were at a very high level, the expert added. Italy is one of the key economic partners of Azerbaijan.
