Military conspirators released in Turkey

The Istanbul Court of Justice has cancelled the arrest warrant for 102 servicemen, including 25 generals, accused of a coup attempt in 2003, RIA Novosti reports.

The investigation of the military coup attempt started in 2010 after the publication of some scandalous material by the 'Taraf' newspaper. These materials accuse the Turkish army of an attempt at a fourth coup since 1960, involving Istanbul mosque bombings and the introduction of a state of national emergency.

The first court session is scheduled for December the 16th. It is due to be held in the same prison where the case of the infamous nationalist Ergenekon organisation, who also attempted a coup,is being investigated.

The arrest of the ex-Commander of the First Field Army, the ex-chiefs of the Naval and Air Operations as well as several other generals was sanctioned in July.

The Army denies the accusations.
