In connection with the latest incidents several servicemen have been dismissed from the military service of Armenia, Panorama.am informs.
The incident of July 28th, which occurred due to a violation of military rules, took the lives of one officer and 5 soldiers. Previously, on the 27th of July, a soldier took his own life.
These tragic events have caused immense public reaction.
The Defense Minister, Seiran Oganyan, ordered the command staff to investigate the incidents and to prevent similar ones. Several possible solutions have already been presented.
The Minister stressed that the main body of the Armenian army is fully operational and effective, however some commanders and officers unfortunately do not meet these high standards and have problems with establishing proper relations in their units. This might indicate that officer training isn’t yet established properly, according to the Minister’s closing statement.
The servicemen accused of causing the incidents in question, as well as of other violations, were presented to the Assembly.
The Minister indicated the importance of the moral and ideological education of the command staff. He also called on the commanders to be firm but fair with their subordinates.
The accused officers were subjected to various penalties, from dismissal to demotion.
