A police officer was killed in a gunfight with two militants who were previously blockaded in an apartment in 9-storey house in the Leninsky district of Grozny, Interfax informs.
The militants were detected by the police today at 05.30. The police ordered the criminals to surrender, but they opened fire in response. The residents of the house were evacuated.
Both of the gunmen were killed in the shoot-out and are now being identified. RIA Novosti cites the republic’s president, Ramzan Kadyrov, as calling these militants responsible for attacks on policemen at the beginning of this month.
