German MP Tankred Schipanski said that France could pass its co-chairmanship in the OSCE Minsk Group to the European Union so that the EU would have a common approach to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
He reminded that Germany was supporting the four resolutions the UNSC passed to have Armenian forces withdraw from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Schipanski emphasized that the problem of Azerbaijani territorial integrity was aggravated by a million refugees and forces migrants. He clarified that Germany paid special attention to peace and stability in the region, especially in the light of Azerbaijan’s becoming a member of the European Neighbourhood Policy in 2004.
