President Rouhani appointed liberal politicians as ministers, Radzhab Safarov says

The Iranian parliament has approved the candidacies of almost all the members of the cabinet appointed by newly-elected Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The head of Modern Iran Research Centre, Radzhab Safarov, says he was surprised by the appointments of the new ministers.

"I would never imagine that Rouhani would appoint openly pro-Western former cabinet members as his ministers," the expert says.

"It's a challenge, but it's also a political position," Safarov says.

"The appointment of pro-Western liberal politicians who studied, worked and lived in Western countries is astonishing. It's a clear sign to the West that Iran is ready for cooperation," the expert believes.
