Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili confirmed today in a statement that his family has decided to close the TV station "Channel 9" and the news agency "Info 9".
"My family and I have decided to close on September 1 the TV station "Channel 9 "and the news agency "Ifno 9." I would like to thank the journalists and the whole team of "Channel 9" and the news agency "Ifno 9." Their activities during the parliamentary elections were equivalent to heroism," the statement reads, News-Georgia reports.
As previously reported by Vestnik Kavkaza, the Georgian media reported that the TV station "Channel 9" will stop broadcasting in September this year, if it is not sold. Company shares are for sale at a third of their previous price.
