Foreign ministers of the EU member states assembled in Brussels today decided to stop arms deliveries to the Arab country in order not to enhance the political tensions and not to support the interim government's repression against the Islamist opposition.
The official statement was made after the meeting by EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.
"The EU countries decided to stop arms deliveries to Egypt in order not to support internal repressions," she is quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
