UK calls for immediate meeting of UN Security Council on Syria

The United Kingdom filed an official demand today to hold an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council over the recent chemical attacks in Syria, RIA Novosti cites diplomatic sources as saying.

The meeting may be held soon.

Syrian rebels say government forces used chemical weapons near Damascus today. The authorities blame the rebels for a "provocation."
