The government of the Stavropol Territory and Trolza (Engelsk, Saratov Region) have signed a deal to purchase the first battery-power trolley buses capable of moving 15km without the power lines, RIA Novosti cites regional Minister for Energy, Industry and Communications Dmitry Samatov.
The first such trolley buses will be tested in Stavropol in October. The trolley buses will save about 250-300 million rubles needed for power line construction in new areas of Stavropol.
Saint Petersburg plans to launch the battery-powered trolley bus too.
