Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich issued a statement saying that the visit of U.S. President Barack Obama to Russia has not been canceled, but postponed.
"The visit is postponed, it has not been canceled. The invitation to Mr. Obama is valid and we hope that he will at some point use it," RIA-Novosti quoted him as saying.
As previously reported, on August 7 it was announced that Barack Obama's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow has been canceled.
