Chiefs of general staff of CSTO member states and Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha have attended a session of the CSTO Military Committee chaired by Kyrgyz Colonel Olyazbek Subankulov in Moscow today, News Armenia reports.
The session was organized for the upcoming meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council, which will be hosted by Sochi in September 2013.
Attendees of the Military Committee discussed security in the Central Asian region, challenges, modernization of security structures and preparations for the upcoming session of charter structures of the CSTO.
Special attention was paid to CSTO Collective Forces, Collective Rapid Reaction Forces and modernization of the CSTO Joint Staff. Lieutenant-General Alexander Studenikin, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, said in his report that it was the third session of the Military Committee held in 2013. The coordination mechanism allows CSTO members to exchange views and find solutions to outstanding problems and improvement of cooperation, the report says.
