Turkey's Kurds wouldn't be separatists if they enjoyed equal rights

A peaceful resolution of the Turkish-Kurdish conflict will establish a new modal of Kurds' relations with other ethnic groups in the region, member of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Stanislav Ivanov claims.

According to the expert a lot of issues (Turkey's EU bid, neo-Ottoman tendencies etc.) lead to this process.

He also notes that the Kurdish issue has successfully been settled in Iraq. Iraqi Kurds do not fight for an independent state, as they have all necessary rights.

If Turkey's Kurds enjoyed equal rights, they would not struggle for independence as well, the expert says.
