The Syrian civil war is a major catastrophe for the country. Some 100 thousand people have already been killed during the conflict. 300-400 thousand people have been wounded and some 2 million have fled from Syria.
However, it's unwise to support only the rebels. It's also necessary to support neutral forces, such as Kurds, who are simply trying to resist aggression, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Oriental Studies Stanislav Ivanov believes.
"If one starts arms deliveries to the rebels, one should also provide Kurds with weapons, as they are protecting their homes," he says.
