Ahmed Kotiyev, secretary of the Ingush Security Council, has been murdered at Nizhniye Achaluki this morning, despite Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov having described the republic as the leader of the North Caucasian Federal District in terms of security. Maksim Shevchenko, a member of the Russian Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations, said that the murder was not a coincidence.
The official reminded that Kotiyev had been part of the law-enforcement agencies for a long time and had been a police officer. Shevchenko believes that the man was killed by forest terrorists, but the assassination had nothing to do with Yevkurov’s conference. He called it a very professional murder.
Gajimet Safaraliyev, head of the Parliamentary Committee for Nationalities, said that it was hard to judge whether the murder had been planned beforehand or was an accident without investigations.
Both experts have a common opinion that the tragedy would not affect the election of Yevkurov as the Leader of Ingushetia.
