Dagestani leader condemns Belarus' actions against Uralkali

The Acting Head of the Dagestani Republic, Ramazan Abdulatipov, condemns the Belarusian authorities actions against the Uralkali company and says all allegations against Dagestan's Senator Suleyman Kerimov are baseless.

"The actions of the Belarusian authorities are unfriendly and aimed at harming the Russian Federation and the Russian people," he said.

The Belarusian authorities said on August 29 they plan to launch a criminal investigation of the major shareholder of Russia's Uralkali potash-producing company.

The Belarusian Investigative Committee's spokesman said that one of Russia's richest citizens, Suleiman Kerimov, who owns 25 percent of Uralkali shares, is suspected of illegal activities.
