International community discusses Obama's decision on Syria

US President Barack Obama has recently said that the United States would soon launch a limited military operation against the Assad regime. The international community has no unanimous opinion on the matter.

British Prime Minister David Cameron has supported Obama's move. "I understand and support President Obama's decision on Syria," the head of the British cabinet wrote on Twitter.

President Obama's approach is also shared by French President Francois Hollande. "The president told him that France will tajke part an operation against the Syrian regime in response to the recent chemical attacks," a source close to Hollande is quoted as saying.

At the same time the republican opposition in the US Congress says the operation should be large-scaled and immediate. "We should not support a limited operation, which is not a part of a long-term strategy aimed at overthrowing Assad," Senator John McCain wrote in an official statement.

The Syrian rebels are also dissatisfied with the president decision to start a limited operation that will probably consist of series of air strikes. "We are disappointed, we believed the operation will be launched immediately," Interfax cites one of the rebel leaders Samir Nashar as saying.

Such countries as Venezuela and Iran has already condemned a possible US operation in Syria.
