Azerbaijani president congratulates Jewish community on Rosh Hashanah

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated the Jewish community of Azerbaijan on the Rosh Hashanah holiday, the official website of the head of state informs. 

 

The Azerbaijani president stresses his commitment to the ideas of inter-ethnic peace and multiculturalism. Azerbaijan is one of the countries of the world where people of different religions, ethnic origins and cultures live in peace and mutual respect, President Aliyev says in a statement.

 

Rosh Hashanah is a three-day celebration which begins on the first day of Tishrei, the seventh month of the Jewish calendar. The day is believed to be the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, and their first actions toward the realization of mankind’s role in the world.
