Experts discuss visit of Azerbaijani ships to Astrakhan

Professor Fikret Sadykhov of the Western University emphasized the peaceful visit of Azerbaijani ships under command of Vice Admiral Shakhin Sultanov, Commanded of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces, to Astrakhan. He said that it will be a return visit after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meeting in Azerbaijan where he had met President Ilham Aliyev and signed agreements.

Vladimir Yevseyev, Director of the Center for Socio-Political Studies, shares Sadykhov’s opinion. It may also be an attempt to compensate the visit of Iranian ships to Astrakhan. The expert believes that Azerbaijan can join the Russian-Iranian naval drills in the Caspian Sea.

He noted information that Azerbaijan wanted to buy a large portion of Korean weapons and expressed doubts about authenticity of such news. Yevseyev called the upcoming Azerbaijani visit to Astrakhan a positive trend in relations with Russia.

The expert said that Russia needed to keep the situation balanced, so as not to cause anxiety in Armenia.

The Azerbaijani Navy will lay flowers to the Eternal Flame and the Heydar Aliyev Monument.
