Gennady Zyuganov, leader of the Communist Party of Russia, and Ivan Melnikov, a candidate for Moscow Mayor of the party, have discussed the situation in Syria.
Melnikov said that he froze the electoral campaign for a moment to meet Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad. He called the US declarations about the threats of Syria an excuse to interfere.
Aggression against Syria would be a crime against humanity, he noted. The campaign to deprive Obama of the Nobel Prize. Melnikov reminded that he had spoken against war in Iraq.
Zyuganov emphasized that Russia was preparing for conflicts moving from the Middle East to its border and called for a consistent approach.
Melnikov said that Russia’s shipment of S-300 systems were correct and praised President Vladimir Putin’s statements made yesterday.
