Senator Ilyas Umakhanov will continue to represent the Republic of Dagestan in the Federation Council, the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Alexander Torshin said.
"Today, by the Decree No. 1 of the new leader of the Republic of Dagestan, Ilyas Umahanov has been appointed senator! My Congratulations!" Torshin wrote on his Twitter account, RIA Novosti reported.
A native of Dagestan, Umahanov has been representing Dagestan in the Federation Council since November 2001.
