Russia managed to prevent a new war in Syria, minister says

The Syrian authorities welcome the agreement reached by the United States and Russia aimed at establishment of international control over the Syrian chemical arsenal in order to prevent a US military operation against the Assad administration, Syrian minister for national reconciliation Ali Heidar says.

"We welcome this agreement. On the one hand, it will help the Syria people to stop the crisis, on the other hand it prevent a new war in Syria," the minister says.

This agreement was a success of Russia's foreign policy, the Syrian official believes.
