Germany condemns visit of MP to Nagorno-Karabakh

Philipp Misfelder, speaker of the CDU/CSU for foreign affairs at the German parliament, sent a letter to Azerbaijani Ambassador to Berlin Parviz Shakhbazov, expressing regret over the illegal visit of Jurgen Klimke (CDU) to Nagorno-Karabakh on September 22, 2013.

The letter stated that Klimke’s visit was private and had nothing to do with CDU/CSU. The document says that Germany complies with the need to fulfill resolutions of the UNSC.

Elman Abdullayev, spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said earlier that the ministry was planning to put Klimke on the blacklist of foreigners visiting Nagorno-Karabakh illegally. He added that students of the John Hopkins University, Russian MP Alexey Mitrofanov and James Brooke of Voice of America, wanted to be crossed out of the list.

Abdullayev clarified that the list had 335 names. It will be shortened as far as requests to be put of the list will be considered.
