Medvedev criticized the process of fighting corruption in the North Caucasus. He noted that support from the federal center will be determined by the efficiency and quality of the work of the regional authorities, RIA Novosti reports.
The Russian president also criticized the authorities of Dagestan and Alexander Khloponin for inefficient work in attracting investments, ITAR-TASS reports.
Medvedev recalled that he had given orders to the Ministry of Finance and the vice-premier. These issues were discussed in June but nothing has been done.
The President of Dagestan, Magomedsalam Magomedov, who requested the meeting concerning the social-economic development of Dagestan, asked Dmitry Medvedev to strengthen the law-enforcement structures and their material-technical basis because of the rise in terrorist activities in the region. This is the reason the investment rate is so low, Magomedov said.
Magomedov offered to form a special group to carry out operations in mountain and forest regions, to reinforce the existing forces.
