Air defenses for South Ossetia have been provided, but setting up Russian S-300 AA complexes would not be excessive, the Minister of Defense of the republic Valeriy Yakhovets said in a telephone conversation to RIA Novosti.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Air Forces, General Colonel Alexander Zelin, had announced that there is an S-300 complex in Abkhazia. He said that the S-300, in cooperation with land forces, solves the goals of air defense in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
