Russian president replaces interior minister of Dagestan

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has replaced the Interior Minister of Dagestan, General-Major Ali Magomedov, the press-service of the Kremlin reports. Colonel of Justice Abdurashid Magomedov will be replacing him, RIA Novosti reports.


Abdurashid Magomedov was the deputy interior minister and the head of the investigation department of the republic's Interior Ministry.


On Wednesday, Medvedev held a meeting in Sochi on the social-economic development of Dagestan, where Dagestani President Magomedsalam Magomedov requested the president to strengthen the law-enforcement structures in the republic due to the rising terrorist threats.


Magomedov mentioned that 300 people had fallen victim to terrorist attacks, which is more than last year. The number of law-enforcers killed doubled. The number of crimes solved reduced three-fold.
